How to Study for Long Hour



In today’s technological world smart phones, tablet and other gadgets are used by students in every level. These devices have not only occupied the pocket of every student but also are the major reasons for their ignorance towards studies. Whether in classroom or house, students keep mobile phones beside their books. Students are so busy with online group, chat, mobile games etc. that they show ignorance towards their studies. Even if students try to focus on their course, the beep of their phone becomes the reason of their distraction.  Lot of time goes wasted in answering the calls or text messages and this result in lowered grade.


Parents look for qualified and experienced teachers who can help their kid progress in the studies but when students are always thinking about messages, games or chat; even the excellent teacher fails to guide them. So here are few tips that will help students concentrate and study for long hour. These tips are not the complete solution but if followed can be really helpful.
1.    Choosing correct place for study: Concentration in study can be set only in clean, silent and disturbance free places. So before taking the books and starting with your topic, first look for the place that is best for your study. It must be clean, well ventilated and most importantly noise free.

2.    Keep your gadgets away: Study means just study and nothing else. So gadget, mobile phone or any other mode of communication or entertainment must be kept away from your study area. Take an example if you watch 2 hours of movie you completely forget about any other thing and your entire focus is towards the movie, likewise while you are studying; keep everything away that can be the reason of distraction.


3.    Planning: Plan your schedule properly before studying. Make a study plan and then work accordingly. Your study plan must have one subject in a day and in a week try to cover all the subjects. Make a good plan of the topics.

4.    Read textbook: Before jumping to solve questions, it is important to read the entire chapter. Reading the chapter will help you gather small details of the topic and most importantly you will get into flow of the topic keeping your focus for hours.


5.    Take small breaks: When studying it isn’t necessary to go on with the course for hours and hours. Rather taking small breaks in between can be helpful. You can take coffee break, some minutes of nap or talking on phone for few minutes etc. This way you will not get bored and you can also focus constantly on the topic.

6.    Taking notes: Note making can be helpful for students to keep their focus on study for long hours. Reading the chapter then making notes can help students remain busy for hours in their course.


7.    Getting proper sleep: This is another useful and most important tip to remain focused in study. If you do not get proper sleep, you tend to be lazy all day. You focus and concentration will be shifted elsewhere. So getting good night sleep is very important.
8.    Keep focus on one thing: Don’t do multiple tasking at one time, focus on one thing. When you study start with one topic in a day and be focused on that single topic, don’t leave the topic incomplete and jump to the other section. This may create a mess of the study in your brain.

9.    Make study fun: If you study in pressure or compulsion every minute sounds like hours, but if you make study a fun task even an hour seems like a minute. So make study fun, try integrating new ideas in your study and create some fun method of studying.

10.  Don’t take hassles: Just be calm and study. Don’t take too much pressure. Don’t worry about future or think of past results. Be focused on your study. Remaining stress free will help you remain focused in your task for hours.

Not every student is able to study for hours in silent and calm environment. Some are able to study better in a group whereas others need one study partner beside them. If you know the best place where you can focus, be in that place and study according to your comfort level. Don’t force yourself but yes make sure that any mediums of distraction are kept away from study area.
